At Teyk, your money is always your money. We create individual accounts for each customer, with all ETFs and cash held legally in a customer's name. In the unlikely event that Teyk could not operate, our customers still legally own all of their ETFs and cash. In addition to this, as we are regulated by the SFC and our customer's assets are protected up to a value of HK$500,000 by the Investor Compensation Fund.
Insurance savings plans are sold by insurance agents. These agents take a huge commission which directly impacts the value that you get back. Due to the commission the insurance company has to pay, customers are locked in for long periods of time, with exit penalties as high as 100% of your earnings in the early years. At Teyk, we only charge one simple management fee of 0.5% p.a. We never lock you in and we have no other hidden fees.
At Teyk, we believe the principles of successful investing are quite straightforward:
1) Invest in a diversified portfolio
2) Stay invested over the long-term
3) Re-invest your dividends
Our platform exists to automate these three core principles, making it super simple for long term savers to invest successfully in the stock market and therefore avoid the perils of individual stock picking. We only have portfolios suitable for long-term savers. This means that if you’re a long-term saver, you can’t accidentally make the wrong investment choice when you use Teyk.
Teyk exclusively invests in ETFs through the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. We create diversified portfolios of locally listed ETFs that track global indices.
Yes. Investment always carries risk. However, this risk is higher in the short term and then gradually decreases over the long term. When analysing historical data of the performance of the S&P500, there hasn't been a single 20 year period where your investments would have been less that your contributions.
We charge a simple 0.5% p.a. management fee based on your assets under management. There are no other fees or kickbacks involved as we believe that fees should be fair and transparent.
We believe that you should only pay fees when Teyk has successfully generated profit on your investments. This means we are just as invested in your success as you are. In order to create the most fair assessment of whether to charge a fee:
1) We charge our fee daily. To do this we pro-rata our 0.5% p.a. fee to a daily value of approximately 0.000013664590650108721
2) At the end of every day, we check to see if your investment value is above your contributions
3) If your investment value is below your contributions, we refund you the fee for that day
4) At the end of the month, we add up all of the daily fees and refunds, and then make one single charge to your account
Although projections cannot provide a guaranteed indicator of future performance, the historical performance of the stock market can be used as an guide to give an approximate outcome. Our projections take into account all of the total return data for the funds in each portfolio, and then use an technique called Monte Carlo Stochastic Modelling to simulate the random fluctuations in the stock market in order to give an estimated return on your investments.
Opening an account with Teyk is easy. You can submit your application online by scanning your HKID. You then need to link your bank account. This is done using AutoPay (E-Direct Debit). To set up an Autopay instruction, you need to go to your own banking app (i.e. HSBC app) and set up an authorisation with the instructions provided. Once you've successfully done this, the regulations require that we transfer HK$10,000 from your bank account as a one off payment, in order to validate your setup. We then immediately transfer the HK$10,000 back to you and open your account.
Teyk is regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. The regulations state that customers can open an account digitally, as long as the stock broker (Teyk) receives a HK$10,000 one off payment from a bank account in the same name as the customer.
The regulators require that we transfer HK$10,000 from from our customers' bank account as part of our Digital onboarding process. As soon as we receive this cash, the Team at Teyk will open your account and then instantly return the cash to you. Depending on your bank, it may take 1-2 business days for you to receive the funds back in your account.
As a monthly investment platform, we place trades for our customers on a monthly cycle. On the 1st business day of each month, we take a snapshot of all our customers instructions for processing. We will then start the trading process once we have received our customers contributions. The whole process will usually be complete within 10 business days.

Diversification is the process of spreading your investments across multiple stocks to ensure that you both benefit from the growth of as many companies as possible, whilst at the same time minimising your exposure to potential losses. Diversification is important, because it's impossible to predict the future. Trying to predict which companies will individually make gains out of the of thousands of listed companies is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Through the process of diversification, you don't need to predict the future, you will already be exposed to the ups and downs of the stock market in a controlled and safe way.
